Seduced by Hansar Bangkok – Hansar Bangkok, Thailand

It was not the first time she’s doing it. Over the last couple of years, she has been seducing me from a distance. And itwas only on my most recent trip that I gave in to her seduction. Nope, she’s not one of those ladies of the night from Patpong but instead, she is the elegant Hansar Bangkok.

I’ve always stayed at the nearby St Regis Bangkok and it was only on my most recent trip to Bangkok that I decided to give Hansar a shot. It felt pretty good to be greeted with genuine Thai hospitality when I arrived at the hotel. Without delay, the doorman took over my luggage and advised me to proceed to the mezzanine floor for check in.

One of the most compelling reasons for me to stay at the Hansar is that it is a boutique hotel. And its capacity is unable to cater to the volume of travel groups, which is a blessing for those who want to avoid the noisy travellers.

The check in was pretty standard and frankly, there’s nothing much to shout about. The friendly front desk staff showed me to my Urban suite and when he opened the door to my suite, I was overwhelmed by the gorgeous green wall along the hallway. The vibrant and lively green wall adds much life to the suite.

At 71sqm, the Urban suite is pretty huge. There is a reasonably sized living room decorated in the smoothing beige and brown colour palette. It’s made more enticing when the drinks, beer included, and snacks are complimentary. I could imagine myself being a couch potato in the night after all my activities in Bangkok.

As I walked further into the suite, I was greeted with a luxurious bedroom. Decorated in the same colour palette, the room is very inviting. But it was the generously sized bathroom that took my breath away. The bathroom has a walk-in wardrobe and the size is much bigger than the bedroom! The his-and-hers vanity top spreads across the bathroom while the stone bathtub sits quietly at a corner. However, the bedroom slippers really irked me. The front panel of the slippers is way too big and the feet slipped through the front all the time.

and the bathroom is huge!

My suite package comes with complimentary happy hour canapés and drinks at the Rouge Bar. Located at the ground floor of the hotel, the Rouge Bar is tucked away in a corner. There is a grand piano at the bar but no one was playing at that hour. Nevertheless, it’s a rather pleasant place to hang out and have some drinks.

Even though it’s a boutique hotel, Hansar does have a good range of facilities. The sizeable gym is well-equipped and would put lots of the other luxury hotels to shame. The infinity lap pool located on the eighth-floor is the thing that seduced me to staying Hansar. If not because of the rain, I would have spent countless hours lazing by the pool.

Well equipped gym

The Luxsa Spa occupies an entire floor of the hotel. It’s really huge considering that Hansar is just a boutique hotel. I was impressed with the luxurious treatment rooms. Having said that, I was rather disappointed that the wet facilities such as steam room and jacuzzi are not housed within the spa.

Located just next to the pool is the outdoor jacuzzi. Personally, I would have preferred to have the jacuzzi to be in the spa or pool changing room. The outdoor whirlpool does not appeal to me especially when children are allowed in there. It ended up more like a play pool rather than a hot tub. Thank goodness, the separate steam rooms are located inside the male and female changing rooms near to the pool.

There are a few dining options at Hansar. My personal favourite is Café Boca, which I had dined there quite a number of times before my stay in Hansar. Café Boca serves a good selection of authentic Thai food and is one of my personal favourite places whenever I feel like having Thai food in Bangkok. Eve by Hansar, helmed by executive chef Charles Christiaens, is a French Mediterranean restaurant by night and it is converted into a breakfast area in the morning. Although the breakfast selection is limited, the quality is surprisingly good. The common items such as yogurt and pastries are placed at the buffet counter while the main courses are prepared individually and upon order.

Having stayed at so many different hotels in Bangkok, Hansar is probably one of those which left a deep impression on me. It’s beautiful and exquisite which makes it an excellent choice for those who prefer some peace. I would have stayed there for many more occasions if not because of its spa design.
